The Egan Office of Urban Education and Community Partnerships is now accepting applications for their student leadership positions for the 2020-21 academic year. If you are student who wants to address critical social issues, promote social justice and transform the structures of inequality in our society, then consider applying to be a school community organizer, a public or Catholic School Tutor or a Jumpstart Corps member.
The Egan Office support schools in East Garfield Park, Hermosa, Auburn Gresham, Little Village, Near West Side, North Lawndale and Pilsen. The schools need committed individuals who live close to the communities served, and who are ready to engage in community work.
School community organizer
SCOs are graduate students assigned to a school and community area. SCOs identify potential resources and partners for the school and provide support to their team of tutors. Contact

Public school or Catholic school tutor - applications due March 20
Tutors are upper-level undergraduate students who work an average of 10 hours per week to enhance elementary student learning through tutoring, mentoring and supplemental enrichment activities. Students receive training and participate in weekly reflections seeking to develop leaders who are professional, socially aware and committed to social justice.

Become a Jumpstart Corps member - applications accepted on a rolling basis
Help preschool children develop their oral language skills. Jumpstart Corps members, typically upper-level undergraduate students, work 12-14 hours per week, including prep and reflection. Corps members serve on a team with five to seven peers, implement the Jumpstart curriculum and work directly with Jumpstart Staff on training, session planning, service opportunities and more.
