The Women of Spirit & Mentorship Awards
the DePaul Women's Network is honoring mentors. Managing our professional careers as women, femmes, trans, and/or non-binary folks doesn't happen alone. Who are the people at DePaul who have mentored and guided you? Who do you go to when you need career advice? When you're trying to figure out a sticky work/life situation? Honor that mentorship by recognizing your DePaul mentor for the Louise de Marillac Spirit and Mentorship Award.
The 18th St. Louise de Marillac Women of Spirit & Mentorship Award!
On behalf of the DePaul Women’s Network, we thank you for the nominations and the awardees for the Louise de Marillac Spirit and Mentorship Award. In 2022, we have received sixty-one nominations!
DWN created a video for the awardees. Please enjoy!
Who Should Be Recognized?
The DePaul Women’s Network and the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity call upon all members of the DePaul community to recognize female, femme, trans, and/or nonbinary faculty, staff and students who truly exemplify the Vincentian leadership embodied by St. Louise. Mentorship takes many forms: a colleague who always looks out for you. A professor who helps you navigate your academic path beyond the classroom. A fellow student who has helped you get your footing at DePaul. A supervisor who is helping you identify your next step? Mentors can be both formal and informal. Let’s celebrate them!
A "modern-day Louise" is a woman who exemplifies St. Louise de Marillac's qualities of spirit and service, compassionate personalism and the ability to get things done.
About St. Louise de Marillac
St. Louise de Marillac was a wife, mother, nurse, social worker, teacher and community organizer in 17th century France. She collaborated with St. Vincent de Paul to serve the poor and she educated women to help serve those most in need. Moreover, she founded the Daughters of Charity, a community of religious women that still exists today. St. Louise acted from a deep place of faith in God and out of a sense of love and joy rather than obligation. Whether our endeavors are humble or grand, Louise de Marillac's spirit continues to inspire us to take our beliefs and put them into action.
Women of Substance Exhibition (Event Canceled Due to the Coronavirus)
The Women of Substance Exhibit recognizes the remarkable and inspiring women in our lives. Similar to WSA, all members of the DePaul community are invited to nominate a woman of substance to be featured in this celebratory exhibit.
A "woman of substance" is a woman who uses her power and positive influence to make a difference. A nominee may be a friend, colleague, co-worker, mother, daughter, author, educator, or someone who wears a different title. It is up to you!
If selected, a nominee's information will be posted for viewing in a pop-up display on both the Lincoln Park and Loop campuses during specific dates and times in the spring.
