A guide to students starting online classes

Fall campus
(DePaul University/Jamie Moncrief)

A new academic year is approaching. Soon you will be starting fall classes, and, with only a few exceptions, those classes will take place online. Some of you, especially if you are new to DePaul, may be wondering how you will access your classes. Here’s how:
Go to Desire2Learn, or D2L, our course management system, to see information about your classes. You can log into D2L with your campus connect credentials. If you are having trouble logging in, please check the technology FAQ page or contact the help desk via email or phone at (312) 362-8765. Once logged in, you will see your classes appearing as tiles in the “My Courses” part of the home page. Click on any of the tiles to access that course information.

For those of you taking classes that include synchronous meetings online, the link you need to access most classes will be posted on the D2L course site; if not, your instructor will send you the link.  Each D2L course site includes a tab labeled “Content” where course materials are found; click there to find information about the first few weeks.  Please note that D2L sites for specific courses may not be available until just before the start of classes.  In addition, your instructor may email you with specific instructions about your course.
If you would like to learn more about the different types of online classes that will be available this fall, click here
If you don’t see one of your classes in D2L or have questions about your class, feel free to email your instructor.  You can find the email address by logging into and typing the instructor’s name into the “to” line of an email message.
Despite our challenging times, may the new academic year bring you lots of food for thought, opportunity for growth, and meaningful connections with your instructors, advisors, and classmates.  Please check out the Student Success site and take advantage of all the academic resources available to you.  And for a variety of activities and ways to connect with other students outside your classes, join DePaul’s Digital Engagement Network, known as DEN.
We wish you the best of luck for an engaging and successful academic year.
