Jumpstart

Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community volunteers to work with preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. Join us to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Learn more at www.jstart.org.

Jumpstart Corps members have the unique opportunity to inspire young children to learn, serve in a local community, collaborate with others on a team, and build professional skills. All Corps members receive high quality training to help them implement Jumpstart’s outcome-based program, promote children’s school success, and build family involvement.

Corps members complete an intensive commitment and make a substantial impact in the life of young children. During the school year, Corps members serve 300 hours, 12-14 hours per week. Upon successful completion of the program, Corps members become eligible to receive an Americorps Education Award of $1,252.91​

Catholic Schools Internship

CSI is a student employment program where DePaul undergraduate students work primarily as tutors/mentors in one of seven Catholic Schools, all of which are located in Chicago’s most resilient communities. Tutors work an average of 12 hours per week to enhance elementary student learning through tutoring, mentoring, and supplemental enrichment activities and by supporting and building community-school partnerships. Through weekly reflections, trainings, CSI provides opportunities for DePaul students to study and reflect on the societal conditions that affect children’s learning and development with the goal of developing leaders who are professional, socially aware & committed to social justice.

Public Schools Internship

PSI consists of a team of DePaul tutor/mentors who receive scholarship funding to work in one of four Chicago Public Schools in some of Chicago’s most resilient neighborhoods. Tutors work an average of 8-12 hours per week to enhance elementary student learning through tutoring, mentoring, and supplemental enrichment activities and by supporting and building community-school partnerships. PSI provides opportunities for DePaul students to study and reflect on the societal conditions that affect children’s learning and development with the goal of developing leaders who are professional, socially aware & committed to social justice.
