Blue Sky project update: Moving from PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud

Over the past six months, a cross-functional team has been working to transition DePaul's human resources and finance applications from PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud, a cloud-based system which has been re-branded as "Blue Sky" for DePaul.

The original plan for a Jan. 1, 2020, “go-live” date has changed. Given the scope of the project and the complexities of converting from a 20-year-old, customized system, the team has determined the conversion would take longer than originally anticipated. Similar to an old home renovation, once the team figuratively “opened the walls” of the system, they were able to see the requirements of the project much better.

The team of professionals from Information Services, Finance and Human Resources, along with Drivestream, a certified Oracle implementation partner, are working diligently on the conversion from PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition to the new system. A revised “go-live” date will be announced in the near future.

The transition to Oracle Cloud offers many benefits to the university, including:
  • Improved self-service for employees and managers
  • Continuous upgrades and process improvements to maintain relevance and currency
  • Better access and use of data for decision making
Most importantly, Blue Sky will be a sustainable systems solution for the future of cloud-based applications and deliver data faster and make administrative processes more efficient—both of which directly impact our purpose at DePaul: supporting student success.
