Since the COVID-19 pandemic shifted the majority of our university operations to remote work, some areas of DePaul have been experiencing a very high or normal volume of work while others have experienced a reduction in work. In an effort to address these different impacts on workloads, the Office of Human Resources recently launched the DePaul Talent Share Program.
Informed by best practices from other universities that have launched similar programs, the DePaul Talent Share Program is principally designed to assist staff employees of the university. Working with the Talent Acquisition team within the Office of Human Resources, managers take the lead on identifying temporary assignments or projects where they need assistance, as well as determining eligible employees in their area who may have the capacity to participate in the program. Employees whose hours have been reduced by remote operations are encouraged to participate, but are not required to do so.
The Talent Acquisition team will compare requests for assistance to employees who are available, identify potential matches and connect the two managers. The managers will determine whether it is a good match and, if so, agree to the Talent Share program and notify the Talent Acquisition team.
While working in a temporary assignment through the Talent Share Program, employees will continue to consult with their “home" manager regarding time-off and other requests. An employee's “home" manager will be in communication with the temporary manager regarding such details as scheduling or absences. Managers who receive a shared employee will provide training, resources, job feedback and access needed to perform the job. In regard to funding, the employee will continue to be paid from their “home" area at their current pay rate. Therefore, budget transfers are not necessary.
