As summer nears, so do preparations for the end of the annual performance appraisal period for full- and part-time staff employees. This annual process provides an opportunity for formal performance discussions and documentation to capture the hard work, important contributions and professional development of each individual staff member.
Specific timeframes may be set at the unit level by deans and vice presidents for completing this year's staff performance appraisal documentation by Sept. 1, but staff employees and managers can start planning now. The following outlines the general steps of the performance appraisal process:
-
Step 1: Employees should ensure that 2022-23 performance goals have been entered and approved in BlueSky. The current appraisal period is July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
-
Step 2: Employees complete their section of the performance appraisal in BlueSky (forms opened on May 15). At this time, managers should also schedule performance meetings to take place by mid-August.
-
Step 3: Managers complete their reviews in BlueSky, giving employees time to review prior to performance meetings.
-
Step 4: Performance appraisal meetings should take place by mid-August.
-
Step 5: Completed documentation needs to be submitted to Human Resources through BlueSky by Sept. 1.
