As summer nears, so do preparations for the end of the annual performance appraisal period for full- and part-time staff employees. This annual process provides an opportunity for formal performance discussions and documentation to capture the hard work, important contributions and professional development of each individual staff member.
Specific timeframes may be set at the unit level by deans and vice presidents for completing this year's staff performance appraisal documentation by Sept. 1, but staff employees and managers can start planning now. The following outlines the general steps of the performance appraisal process:

For managers who want to strengthen skills and practices associated with performance management, DePaul's
Management Foundations series is available. Current topics include 1) Goal Setting and Maintenance, 2) the Performance Appraisal Process, and 3) Ongoing Feedback and Coaching. This three-session series combines self-paced learning modules with a collaborative skills lab alongside other managers at DePaul. Sign up by going to
