Purse and Bag Policy

The Wintrust Arena has a very strict purse and bag policy for all events, including commencement ceremonies. familiarize yourself with this policy and review the list of prohibited items.

School of Music and The Theatre School Commencement June, 2017

Arrival

Students should report to the Great Lakes Ballroom inside the Marriott Marquis (2121 S. Prairie Ave., adjacent to the Wintrust Arena), for processional line up, one hour prior to the ceremony.

Students will line up by their degree program, process into the Wintrust Arena and take their seats. Following the procession, the ceremony will begin.

Parking and Public Transportation

Parking is available at the Arena, as are public transportation options. We encourage everyone to utilize the CTA. Review transit information here.

Traffic is always heavy in the area and the parking garage can have long lines, so plan accordingly.

Entrance to the Wintrust Arena

Tickets

Commencement ceremonies require family and guests to be ticketed to gain entry. Graduates will receive their tickets at Commencement Kickoff and should have provided them to their family and guests prior to the ceremonies. All tickets that were not picked up at Commencement Kickoff will be available for pick up at the Wintrust Arena Box Office. The Box Office is located on the south side of the Arena, adjacent to the main entrance. Anyone without a ticket will unfortunately not be able to enter the Arena.

Flowers & Gifts for Graduates

Flowers and gifts will be available for purchase at each commencement ceremony.Pre-order your gift to ensure that it will be waiting for you at the venue. Visit the Graduation Day Flowers website to see a complete list of gifts and to place your order today.

Ceremony

Students will line up by their degree program, process into the Arena and take their seats. Following the procession, the ceremony will begin. Families are not allowed in the student area before the ceremony.

Marshals will direct students to receive their diploma at the appropriate time. Students will walk across the stage just prior to their name being called, as indicated by a marshal (to ensure your name is called while receiving the diploma cover).

The program then concludes with the induction to the alumni society and procession out of the Arena.

Photos and Webcast

Photos of students as they cross the stage will be available for purchase a few days after the ceremony. Family and guests unable to attend may wish to watch a live webcast of the ceremony.

Guests with Disabilities

DePaul University welcomes guests with disabilities. The Wintrust Arena is ADA compliant. Advanced planning is strongly encouraged.

For the Hearing Impaired
Sign language interpreting (ASL) will be provided at commencement ceremonies.

Wheelchair Seating Availability
Wheelchair seating areas are available at commencement ceremonies, with one companion seat. Space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. No special tickets are needed.

Limited Mobility
Guests should expect to walk distances and stand in lines. It is recommended that guests with limited mobility consider bringing their personal wheelchairs, walkers or canes.
