Graduate Checklist

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Graduating students should review the instructions below to ensure eligibility for commencement.

Students participating in the Law ceremony, please follow these steps:

1. Check that you meet all academic requirements

2. Apply for degree conferral

Degree conferral is the completion of your academic requirements and the awarding of your degree. To be eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony you must first apply for degree conferral in Campus Connect. 

3. RSVP by April 15 to participate in the Law ceremony and reserve tickets

The RSVP for 2024 commencement will open in Winter Quarter.

RSVP for commencement beginning February 2. The RSVP will reserve graduate and guest tickets, which will be distributed digitally. Information about commencement will be sent by the university and by your college coordinator at lawevents@depaul.edu.  

4. Order your cap and gown by April 15

The regalia ordering site will open in Winter Quarter. 

Regalia ordering through Herff Jones will be available beginning February 2. Graduates will have the option to ship regalia home (for a fee) or pick up items at the Commencement Pickup event (for free). Visit the Cap and Gown page for more details. 

5. Attend Commencement Pickup

Commencement Pickup is the distribution of caps and gowns (if the campus pickup option was selected), reader card, and other important materials you will need for the day of your commencement ceremony.  Visit the Commencement Pickup page for more details. 

6. Check the Law Commencement page for ceremony date, time, and location

Students participating in the June ceremonies, please follow these steps:

1. Check that you meet all academic requirements

2. Apply for degree conferral

Degree conferral is the completion of your academic requirements and the awarding of your degree. To be eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony you must first apply for degree conferral in Campus Connect. 

3. RSVP by April 30 to participate in the June Ceremonies and reserve guest tickets

The RSVP for 2024 commencement will open in Winter Quarter. 

Students can RSVP in Campus Connect beginning February 2. To RSVP to your college’s ceremony and reserve tickets, visit Campus Connect, click on the “Advising, Progress & Graduation” tile, and select “RSVP for Commencement.” Please note the RSVP for Commencement button will only be visible after you have applied for degree conferral (graduation).

The RSVP will reserve guest tickets, which are picked up at Commencement Pickup. Information about commencement will be sent by the university and by your college coordinator(s) below:

​*Participating in the commencement ceremony is optional and does not equate to degree completion. It is a student's responsibility to review their Degree Progress Report to ensure they are on track to complete the requirements and verify their completion term. Students may apply for degree conferral in Campus Connect; please be aware that submitting an online application does not guarantee a degree will be granted from DePaul University. Additionally, regardless of participation at commencement, students will not receive a diploma until all outstanding financial obligations have been fulfilled. Students should contact their Academic Advisors and DePaul Central with questions.
