Purse and Bag Policy
The Wintrust Arena has a very strict purse and bag policy for all events, including commencement ceremonies. Please familiarize yourself with this policy by clicking here as well as reviewing the list of prohibited items.
To see the full commencement schedule, visit the Commencement Ceremonies page. Ceremonies generally last 2-3 hours each.
Parking is available at the Arena, as are public transportation options. Traffic is always heavy in the area and the parking garage can have long lines, so plan accordingly. We encourage everyone to utilize the CTA. Transit information is here.
Commencement ceremonies require family and guests to be ticketed to gain entry. Graduates will receive their tickets at Commencement Kick Off and should have provided them to their family and guests prior to the ceremonies. Unclaimed tickets will be available for will call at the Wintrust Arena Box Office beginning June 8. The Box Office is located on the south side of the Arena, adjacent to the main entrance. Anyone without a ticket will unfortunately not be able to enter the Arena.
For more ticketing information click here.
Flowers from Commencement Flowers will be available for purchase in the lobby.
Students will line up by their degree program, process into the Arena and take their seats. Following the procession, the ceremony will begin. Families are not allowed in the student area before the ceremony.
Marshals will direct students to receive their diploma at the appropriate time. Students will walk across the stage just prior to their name being called, as indicated by a marshal (to ensure your name is called while receiving the diploma cover).
The program then concludes with the induction to the alumni society and procession out of the Arena.
Photos and Webcast
Personal photos in academic regalia should be taken before exiting the Arena — all graduates are required to return their gowns at this time.
Family and guests unable to attend, may wish to watch a live webcast of the ceremony.
Photos of students as they cross the stage will be available for purchase a few days after the ceremony.
Guests with Disabilities
DePaul University welcomes guests with disabilities. The Wintrust Arena is ADA compliant. Advanced planning is strongly encouraged.
For the Hearing Impaired
Sign language interpreting (ASL) will be provided at commencement ceremonies.
Wheelchair Seating Availability
Wheelchair seating areas are available at commencement ceremonies, with one companion seat. Space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
Guests should expect to walk distances and stand in lines. It is recommended that guests with limited mobility consider bringing their personal wheelchairs, walkers or canes.
