++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We encourage you to read this information carefully to understand the process. A PDF is also attached for reference.

All student and guest tickets will be distributed electronically via Ticketmaster.

  • To receive and transfer your tickets, you and your guests will need to take the following steps.
  • Tickets will be dispersed on or around May 12. Tickets will be visible in the MSG App – see below for instructions on downloading and using this app.

For Students: process for receiving and transferring tickets

  • You should have already created a Ticketmaster account and provided that information when you RSVP’d. Alternatively, you may have provided your existing Ticketmaster account information.
  • If you DID NOT create a Ticketmaster account:
    • Create an account linked to your DePAUL EMAIL address. If you have an existing account, add your DePAUL EMAIL address.
    • There is no charge to create an account. Click here for a step-by-step guide to create an account.
    • The account must be linked to your DePaul email address.
  • Each student will receive 1 student ticket (your ticket) as well as general admission guest tickets. If you will not use all your guest tickets, you may share with a fellow student via the transfer process. Note: once you give away a ticket, you will not be issued replacements.
  • To access your tickets, download the MSG App on to your mobile device. Once the app is downloaded, you and your guests can use your established Ticketmaster login credentials to log on and manage your tickets. There is no need to create a new account—you can/will access tickets on the MSG App by using your Ticketmaster login.

Transfer tickets to your guests using the steps below under For Your Guests. Remember to retain one ticket for yourself; graduates without a ticket will not be allowed into the Chicago Theatre.

Here is a guide for you to understand how the Transfer Ticket Process works.

“How do I accept transferred tickets” section of the Ticketmaster website

For Your Guests
Your guests will also need to create or have a Ticketmaster account to receive the ticket transfer from you.

  • In addition, your guests will need to download the MSG App on to their mobile device. Once the app is downloaded, your guests can use their established Ticketmaster login credentials to log on and manage your tickets. There is no need to create a new account—you can/will access tickets on the MSG App by using your Ticketmaster login.
  • Once you have received the tickets, you will transfer tickets to your guests (who will also need to establish Ticketmaster accounts) through Ticketmaster’s “Ticket Transfer” feature. Your Ticketmaster account will show specific seat rows and numbers to transfer; however, guest seating is unassigned and first come first served.
  • Remember to transfer ONLY guest tickets; you must retain ONE ticket for yourself.
  • Guests will receive an email with instructions to accept their tickets.  From a mobile phone, guests can click on the "Accept Tickets" button and login to their Ticketmaster account.
  • If your guests do not have a Ticketmaster account, they can create a new one to accept their tickets.  Please note: the email address to which the ticket transfer is sent must match the email address on the recipient’s/guest’s Ticketmaster account to claim their tickets.
  • We encourage you to share the following link with your guests: https://help.ticketmaster.com/s/article/How-do-I-accept-transferred-tickets?language=en_US#text

What if my guest does not have a smartphone?

If family members are attending together, you may transfer the tickets to one person with a Ticketmaster account. The group will need to enter together so that the tickets may scanned at the same time. For example, if you have a relative who does not have a smartphone, another relative may receive the ticket for this person. When they come to the venue, they will enter together and the ushers will scan both tickets.

Can I screenshot a ticket?
Screenshots are not possible. A message will pop up if a screenshot is attempted.

How else can my guests and I manage our tickets?

In addition to downloading the MSG App, you may also access and manage your tickets by visiting the Account Manager website at https://am.ticketmaster.com/msg

What to Expect on Graduation Day

Graduate arrival instructions

  • Arrive at The Chicago Theatre at 10 a.m. with your e-ticket, your DePaul ID or picture ID, your reader card, and your regalia.
  • Graduates—not guests—must enter through the Chase Lounge entrance, as shown in the image below. The entrance door has a black awning and is located on the south side of the building on Benton Place, between State Street and Wabash Avenue. Guests are not permitted in this area.

Before the ceremony

Please arrive already dressed in your regalia. There will not be designated areas where you will be able to privately dress. Your tassel should hang on the right side of your cap. Upon arrival, your e-ticket will be scanned and you will proceed to the Graduate Gathering Area.

  • You do not need to check in if you have your reader card and regalia. There will be a Help Desk on-site to address any issues.
  • You will stand in the Graduate Gathering Area below the theater until the start of the procession. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes and arrive hydrated. Restrooms are in close proximity. Do not bring personal belongings to the graduate holding area as it will not be secured once the ceremony begins. You will NOT return to this area after the ceremony.

During and after the ceremony

Before and throughout the ceremony, marshals will be available to direct graduates.

  • When it is your turn to come on stage, bring your reader card and your hood.
  • All graduates will be hooded on stage. To prepare, fold your hood in half with the tails flapped inward and the narrow end pointed down for the processional. Place the hood over your left arm with the velvet side closest to your wrist.

On stage, hand the reader card to the marshal and start walking as soon as they motion you forward.  As you descend the stage and before going back to your seat, a photographer will take a photo of you holding your diploma cover.  All graduates are expected to stay for the duration of the ceremony.

After the ceremony, graduates will exit the theater through the main doors on State Street; you will not go back to the graduate line up area. You may rejoin your friends and family in the theater lobby.

Regalia and diploma

You may keep the diploma cover and your regalia, which includes your gown, cap and hood, as well as any cords and stoles you purchased or were awarded. You will not receive your diploma during the ceremony. It will be mailed to you after your coursework is completed and your degree is conferred.

Guest information

  • Doors will open at 10 a.m. and all guests should enter through the theater’s main entrance on State Street. Seating is general admission, first-come first-served. Guests must present their e-tickets for entry. Click here to read the email instructions regarding transferring tickets to your guests.
  • For information on accessible seating and other disabled services, parking, and public transit options visit the Chicago Theatre website.

To sign up for text alerts on the day of commencement, text LAWGRAD to 888777.  This alert option is available for graduates and guests and will provide text alerts in the unlikely event of unexpected changes in ceremony start-time or check-in procedures.  After subscribing to the text alert, you will have the option to include an email address.  This optional alerting service will expire at 5 p.m. on May 20.
