Converting to a new system is never easy, especially when the former system had been in place for more than 20 years. There has been and will continue to be some mild turbulence with BlueSky, however, the teams within Financial Affairs, Human Resources and Information Services are working together to smooth things out as quickly as possible.
The transition from PeopleSoft to BlueSky enables DePaul to have an efficient and sustainable data platform for core business functions, including finance, budgeting, and human resources. DePaul was one of the first universities in the country to implement the PeopleSoft system in the late 1990s and continues to be a forerunner among higher education institutions with the implementation of BlueSky. With the anticipated decline in the use and support of server-based systems, DePaul's move to the cloud-based BlueSky system ensures continuity of support and more streamlined administrative processes in the future. Importantly, the new system will allow us more time to focus on our core purpose at DePaul: supporting student success.
To assist all employees in learning the BlueSky system, the BlueSky Team is hosting live virtual training sessions. Resources can also be found on the BlueSky website. Visit the “How Do I?" section, to find role-specific toolkits as well as PDF versions of these training materials.
In addition to training, the BlueSky Help tool offers robust on-screen support to guide users through the system. Just click on the small red rectangular icon on the right side of your BlueSky homepage, and the tool will guide you through the system to help you complete your task. The BlueSky Help tool eliminates the need to memorize or research how to complete various tasks or transactions.
