Flex Instruction Training

Flex instruction training begins with a self-paced course in D2L that familiarizes faculty with the technical and pedagogical considerations for teaching in course modalities where some students are present in the classroom and some students are joining via Zoom.

All full- and part-time faculty are eligible for this program.

Please fill out this registration form to join the program.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to

  • Identify key affordances and challenges when teaching in Zoom-enabled classrooms
  • Identify software applications that can foster active learning in Flex courses
  • Describe key considerations for sequencing synchronous activities with asynchronous assignments
  • Ensure equity between on-campus and remote learners
  • Create an inclusive, effective learning environment that accounts for potential variations in on-campus vs. remote attendance
  • Identify how common teaching methods and learning activities might be adapted for use in a Flex environment
Once instructors have completed the training, they will be able to schedule an individual consultation with a Center for Teaching and Learning staff member to visit a Zoom-enabled classroom and discuss the planning and execution of Flex classes.
