Events and Job Fairs

Career Coaching

DePaul is dedicated to helping alumni transition into the workforce. During the 6 months following the completion of their degree, alumni retain the same access to career coaching services as current students. To meet the unique needs of alumni who graduated 6 or more months ago, the Career Center has designed a suite of job search focused career coaching sessions.

We welcome you to begin your work with us by scheduling an initial alumni intake appointment. To learn more about the intake session and other sessions that your career coach may recommend, please expand each of the sections below.

In this first session, you’ll meet with your career coach to share your story and learn how the Career Center can support you in your next steps. Your coach will also guide you in selecting and scheduling the follow-up sessions that best meet your specific career-related needs.

Designed for career changers and pivoters, this session will focus on identifying potential career paths and opportunities for upskilling where applicable. You’ll leave with action steps to further your exploration and narrow down your options.

Successful job searches include best practices that vary based on industry and experience level. This session will take an inventory of your current workflow, identifying additional resources and strategies to move forward effectively. Your discussion may include topics such as networking, locating opportunities, research, informational interviewing, evaluating fit, and identifying target employers.

Your toolkit review will include a critical look at your resume, LinkedIn profile, portfolio, website, and/or cover letters. Your coach will help you to identify ways to ensure your documents are both strategic and compelling in the interest of helping you land an interview.

To ensure you are prepared to ace your interviews, this session will focus on strategies for understanding and responding to interviewers’ questions. You will also have the opportunity to practice responding to questions and learn about tools for conducting mock interviews.

Alumni are invited to schedule up to one intake appointment each calendar year. During the intake appointment, the coach and alum will schedule needed follow up sessions from the list above, with a limit of up to 5 total sessions (including the intake appointment) per year.  Alumni may schedule their intake appointment with a Career Community career coach online or by calling (312) 362-8437.

External Coaching and Counseling Resources

While the Career Center is not positioned to provide on-going career or executive coaching to alumni, we are pleased to share a list of external resources that may meet your needs.
