We are saddened to learn of the death of Gloria Enit Fred, mother of Norma Hidalgo, assistant director for credentialing in the LAS Undergraduate College Office. Fred passed away on March 27 at the age of 78.

After 26 years as a distinguished American diplomat, Ambassador John Kordek returned to his alma mater to serve as associate vice president for external relations from 1991 until his retirement in 2004. Kordek died on Feb. 16 at home with his wife of 56 years by his side.

professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and director of the Faculty Scholarship

Lori Holland, the chair for DePaul University's Board of Trustees, died on Nov. 26 at the age of 63. A DePaul alumna, Holland made it a personal commitment to give future generations of students the opportunity to pursue a higher education.

It is with sadness that we have learned of the death of Cathy R. May, 58, long-time professor of the Department of Political Science. Cathy first came to DePaul as an undergraduate student in the 1980s. She subsequently earned her Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and returned to DePaul's Department of Political Science where she taught for more than 20 years.
