Adding Descriptions to Modules and Topics in D2L's Content Area

You can add descriptions to modules and submodules in your course site's content area, and you can also add descriptions to pages and links within modules (which are called "topics" in D2L's terminology.) Descriptions will appear just below the module or topics title; they can be used to add context and provide specific instructions for students.

Add Descriptions to Modules and Submodules

When you add a description to a module, it will be visible to students when they view the entire table of contents or when they open the module. A submodule's description is only visible when students open it.

  1. Click the module or submodule to which you're adding a description.
  2. Click the Add a description… text below the module's title. A text box will appear.

  3. Enter your description in the textbox. You can use its buttons to style your description's text or add media (see the HTML Editor guide for more information.)
  4. Click the blue Update button in the bottom-left corner of the textbox. The textbox will close, and the description you entered will now appear below the module's title.
